Halifax to Host 2008 TMAC (Travel Media Association of Canada) AGM & Conference

Halifax was pleased to be selected as the host of the Travel Media Association of Canada’s 2008 AGM & Conference at the recent TMAC Board Meetings in Winnipeg. Conference dates are February 14-18.
“Halifax is a terrific destination to visit any time of the year, but especially in Bon Appetit Month – February. We are planning a great program showcasing our renowned seafood and maritime hospitality”, says Deanna Wilmshurst, Communications Manger for Destination Halifax and TMAC Board Member. “We will provide every opportunity for the writers to experience Halifax and story ideas will abound. As well we will ensure the Conference is inspiring and informative for both media and industry members.”
The 2007 TMAC AGM & Conference will be held in London, Ontario February 15-19.
“With TMAC members coast-to-coast, we are thrilled to take the annual AGM & Conference to various locations all across the country. We are looking forward to the 2007 meeting in London and heading ‘downeast’ for our 2008 meeting in Halifax”, says Cathy Stapells, President of the Travel Media Association of Canada.
A handful of visionary, Toronto-based travel journalists founded the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC) in 1994. They saw the need to bring the country's travel media and tourism industry closer together formalizing the professional relationship between the two groups. Since then, the relationship has flourished. So has TMAC membership. Today, over 450 members (40% media, 60% industry) belong to the association. Membership continues to grow on both sides. TMAC is the premier travel media association in Canada, bringing together travel media and tourism industry members to foster excellence, uphold ethical standards, and promote professional development.
